A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF WHITE CITY, KANSAS FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. SUPP. 12-1222 AS THE SAME RELATES TO THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS OF ALL CITY LIBRARY BOARD MEMBERS; PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT; AND REPEALING ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF WHITE CITY, KANSAS:

Section 1. The City of White City, Kansas by the power vested in it by Article 12, section 6, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to and does exempt itself from and makes inapplicable to it, the provisions of K.S.A. Supp.12-1222 requiring that in the case of a city library board, all 7 members will be residents of the municipality.

Section 2. The Mayor of White City, with approval of the City Council, shall appoint a library board of seven (7) members.

Section 3. The membership of the City of White City Library Board shall consist of seven (7) members. Of the seven (7) members, three (3) may be members who live within a five (5) mile radius of the city limits due to the sparse population of our municipality.
